The Government of Japan extended grant assistance totaling RM115,370 to the projects in Sabah. Mr. Masashi KONO, Consul-General of Japan at Kota Kinabalu, signed on behalf of the Government of Japan.
The grant will be used for the establishment of gravity-flow water supply systems in Kg. Tintapon and Kg. Puhus near Kota Belud town to be implemented by Adventist Development and Relief Agency Sabah (ADRA Sabah).
The Government of Japan extends financial assistance to the development projects designed to meet the diverse needs of the people in developing countries through the scheme of grant assistance. Known as the Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP), this scheme supports projects proposed by such bodies as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local governments. The GGP has acquired an excellent reputation for providing flexible and timely support to development projects at the grass-roots level.
Since 1989, under the GGP, the Government of Japan has extended the assistance to NGOs and Local Governments in Sabah with 25 small but socially and economically important projects amounting to approximately RM 2.7 million in total. The Government of Japan is always looking for the good proposals from NGOs and local governments to carry out the projects under the GGP.
