Project for Expansion of Facilities for People with Learning Difficulties

The Government of Japan extended grant
assistance totaling US$18,564(Approx.RM59,500) to the Project for Expansion of
Facilities for People with Learning Difficulties for Seri Mengasih
Centre which is located at Tanjung Aru,Kota Kinabalu. Mr. Hirofumi MORIKAWA,
Head of Consular office of Japan, signed on behalf of the Government of Japan.
The grant will be used for purchasing equipments such as Washer and Steam iron and Dryer.These materials are utilized in the workshop of this centre in order to improve the living skills for people
with learning difficulties.
The Government of Japan extends
financial assistance to the development projects to meet the diverse needs of
the people in developing countries through the scheme of grant assistance.
Known as the Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP),
this scheme supports the project proposed by non-governmental organizations
(NGOs), hospitals, primary schools, vocational training Centre and other
nonprofit associations. The GGP has acquired an excellent reputation for
providing flexible and timely support to development projects at the
grass-roots level.
Since 1996, under the GGP, the Government
of Japan has extended the assistance in Sabah with 30 small-scale but socially
and economically important projects amounting to approximately RM 3.2 million
in total.
The Government of Japan is always
responsive to good proposals from NGOs and other nonprofit associations to
