Head of Office Nakasuji attended the opening ceremony of Borneo-Japan NewTrends Trade Expo 2026

On 15th August, Head of Consular Office of Japan in Kota Kinabalu Nakasuji attended the opening ceremony of Borneo-Japan NewTrends Trade Expo 2026 held in Kuching, Sarawak.


At the opening ceremony, Japanese traditional martial arts such as Iaido and Kendo were demonstrated by local martial arts organizations. The ceremony was attended by Datuk Wee Hong Seng, Mayor of Kuching South, and Ms. Lo Sheau Sia, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED). Furthermore, Hakken, a world-renowned cosplayer from Sarawak and Tokyo Tourism Ambassador, also appeared on stage.
This expo mainly showcased pop culture such as anime, manga, games, idols, and cosplay, as well as new digital platforms and emerging technologies including AI and VR/AR related to those contents, with the participation of some Japanese companies.
