The Consular Office of Japan in Kota Kinabalu is now accepting applications for the “Japanese Grant Assistance Grass-Roots Human Security Project (GGP)”.

1. What is GGP?
GGP is a financial assistance scheme for development projects designed to meet the diverse needs of developing countries in the field of Basic Human Needs and Human Security. This scheme supports projects proposed by such bodies as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local government authorities, educational institutions, and medical institutions.For further information, please visit

2. Eligible recipients
i) NGOs working in developing countries (including local NGOs and international NGOs; in principle Japanese NGOs who are eligible for Grant Assistance for Japanese NGOs are excluded)ii) Nonprofit organizations such as local public organizations, educational institutions such as primary and junior high schools, and medical institutions
iii) Nonprofit organizations that implement development projects at the grass-roots level in eligible countries
iv) Individuals and profit organizations are not eligible
3. Project areas
GGP mainly covers tangible improvements, such as constructing primary and junior high schools, improving fundamental medical equipment at hospitals, and excavating wells, etc.However, intangible improvements such as capacity building amongst people may also be eligible for support if determined to be important.
4. Application
Required documents for the GGP are the application form and the financial statement declaration form.Please ensure that all the necessary information is filled up in the application form.
