Temporary Changes in Consular Services from 1 to 14 April 2020 (Revision of Operational Hours and Processing Times)

In response to the extension of the Movement Control Order announced by the Prime Minister of Malaysia on 25 March, the following changes will be implemented to Consular Services from 1 to 14 April 2020.

It is regrettable that any inconvenience may occur and we seek your kind understanding during this difficult times.
Please note that the following changes might be extended depending on Malaysian Government decision on the period of Movement Control Order.

  1. Changes in Operating Hours of Consular Services (Passport, Certificate, Family Registration, Overseas Voting, Visa Application and etc)
     Change to: 9:30 to 12:00 (Tuesday and Thursday: Collection only)
     Previously: 8:30 to 12:00 and 13:30 to 16:00

  1. Working Days required for Issuance of Passport and Certificate

        Change to: 3 working days (Example: Apply on Monday → Collect on Wednesday)
        Previously: 2 working days (Example: Apply on Monday → Collect on Tuesday)

  1. Application and Issuance of Visa
In accordance with the latest measures announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan on 27 March to suspend visa exemption for Malaysians, all visa application (Malaysian and non-Malaysian nationals) submitted to Consular Office of Japan in Kota Kinabalu will only be processed after 30 April.
