The Government of Japan has extended Grant Assistance to the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu South through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects to purchase a transport vehicle for St. Marianne Girls' Hostel in Tuaran, Sabah. The Grant Contract was signed by Mr. YAMASHITA Yoshito, Head of Consular Office of Japan in Kota Kinabalu and Datuk Dr. Ganeshanandha Senathirajah, Director of the Service Projects of the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu South.

St. Marianne Girls’ Hostel provides free room and board to girls who have been forced to give up schooling for financial reasons. It was opened in 2023 by the club to ensure that the girls get enough sleep and study time, as well as to help them develop a regular lifestyle. However, there was a lack of vehicles to transport the children to and from their schools.

Through this grant, one transportation vehicle will be provided to St. Marianne Girls’ Hostel, making it more convenient for students living in the hostel to go to school, thereby securing educational opportunities for girls from low-income households.
