The Book Giving Ceremony under The READ JAPAN PRJECT 2024 for University of Putra Malaysia Sarawak (UPMS)

 The Tokyo Foundation has donated 98 Japan-related books to University of Putra Malaysia Sarawak (UPMS) through the READ JAPAN PROJECT 2024 (Book Donation Project to promote understanding of Japan). The giving ceremony was held at the library of UPMS on Saturday, 27th September 2025.
 The ceremony was attended by Mr. Awang Ahmad Faizi Awang Faizi, Head of Library at UPMS and Mr. Yamashita Yoshito, Head of Consular Office of Japan in Kota Kinabalu, representing the Government of Japan.

     The READ JAPAN PROJECT has promoted a better understanding of Japan among opinion leaders and intellectual circles, including those who are not specialists in Japanese studies by donating Japan-related books in English to overseas institutions and libraries.
      It is currently administered by The Tokyo Foundation, with financial support from The Nippon Foundation. Since its inception in 2008, the project has donated books to over 1,400 institutions worldwide. For Malaysia, 24 institutions and libraries have received books through the project since 2009.
