Ambassador Shikata attended the Opening Ceremony of the “I Love Sushi,” The Japan Foundation Cultural Travelling Exhibition (Kota KInabalu)

On 10th April , Ambassador Shikata Noriyuki attended the opening ceremony of the Japan Foundation Cultural Travelling Exhibition, “I Love Sushi”, held at the Sabah Islamic Civilization Museum.The ceremony also was atteneded by more than about 200 guests, including The Honourable Datuk Jafry Ariffin, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah.
Organized by the Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur, co-hosted by the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia and the Sabah State Museum, and supported by the Japanese restaurant chain Sushi King, the exhibition focuses on Japan’s iconic dish, sushi. As a representative of Japanese cuisine, which is registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, sushi has become increasingly familiar around the world. The exhibition offers a multifaceted introduction to its appeal, highlighting aspects of Japanese history and culture.
At the opening ceremony, 5 types of sushi were served to visitors by Sushi King.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Shikata expressed his hope that the exhibition would provide an opportunity to further deepen exchange and friendship between Japan and Malaysia through Japanese food culture.
